Lead the evidence-based More Than Words Program for Parents of Children on the Autism Spectrum

With your support, parents learn how to accommodate their child’s sensory preferences, provide the structure and predictability that help their child learn, and integrate the strategies that support their child’s social interaction and communication into everyday activities and routines.

Use More Than Words program materials in one-to-one contexts

This workshop shows you how to apply the Hanen teaching method and resources to your everyday clinical practice to support every family on your caseload.

Obtain a license to offer More Than Words via telepractice

Once you've completed the More Than Words workshop, you can obtain an additional license for a nominal fee and offer the program to families via telepractice. The telepractice version of More Than Words maintains the best practice elements of Hanen programs while increasing accessibility of the program to families.

Note on attendance: All Hanen Certification Workshops require participants to attend the full four days of the workshop, as indicated on the workshop registration page. Full attendance and participation is required in order to be awarded certification and a license to offer the More Than Words Program.

Door wie?
Natalie Faulkes

Natalie Faulkes, BSc Human Communication, is a Speech and Language Therapist who has worked with preschool children with complex needs since 2003. As a Hanen instructor, Natalie is contracted by The Hanen Centre to lead More Than Words® certification workshops. She uses Hanen resources in her day-to-day work with families and also offers More than Words® programs to parents.

De materialen die bij de workshop horen zijn allemaal in het Engels en worden digitaal aangeleverd. Uitzondering is het Nederlandstalige handboek voor ouders 'Meer dan woorden®' (1ste druk 2016). De aankoopprijs van dit boek zit niet inbegrepen in het inschrijvingsgeld. U dient dit boek zelf aan te kopen voor de start van de cursus. Praktisch
Deze vorming gaat online door via Zoom op 1, 2, 7 en 9 juli 2025 van 9u30 tot 17u00.

Een stabiele internetverbinding en een laptop of PC met webcam én microfoon zijn absoluut noodzakelijk per deelnemer om deel kunnen te nemen aan deze online workshop.

Deze cursus wordt gespreid over vier dagen in tegenstelling tot de MTW-workshop voor Engelstaligen die slechts 3 dagen duurt. Dit wordt gedaan omdat geen van de deelnemers aan deze cursus Engels spreekt als moedertaal en er op deze manier meer tijd kan voorzien worden om langer bij bepaalde onderwerpen stil te staan en ook om de kans te krijgen als deelnemer om de besproken materie voldoende te begrijpen en te verwerken. Enige basiskennis van het Engels is dus wel een vereiste en zal vooraf worden geverifieerd door het Hanen Centre.

Een bijkomend voordeel bij het volgen van deze specifieke cursus is dat wanneer alle deelnemers Nederlands spreken de oefenmomenten in kleinere groepjes ook in het Nederlands kunnen gebeuren. De overige delen van deze workshop gaan echter volledig in het Engels door. Tot 4 mei is inschrijven enkel mogen via Sig, waardoor we enkel deelnemers hebben die het Nederlands beheersen. Indien de cursus op 30 april nog niet volzet is, worden de inschrijvingen vanuit Hanen opengezet voor andere nationaliteiten, en dus deelnemers met een andere taal.

LET OP: Om je inschrijving in orde te brengen dien je zowel via ons, als via het Hanencentre in te schrijven. Je dient je eerst in te schrijven via ons (bovenaan of onderaan deze webpagina), dan ben je alvast zeker van je plaats. Enkele maanden voor de cursus van start gaat, ontvang je van ons een unieke link waarmee je je ten laatste op 1 juni 2025 moet registreren op de webpagina van het Hanen-centre! Je deelname aan de workshop is enkel en alleen geldig indien zowel de inschrijving via Sig als de registratie en voorbereidende opdracht bij het Hanencentre tijdig afgerond zijn!
